Paddle Canada Canoe Tripping Instructor Course & 
Paddle Canada Canoe Tripping Advanced Instructor Course

Designed to advance the teacher, scout leader or individual that has camping experience and now wants to lead their students or friends on a canoe trip.

When: Tuesday March 26 to Friday March 30
Where:  Columbia River, BC (Radium to Golden) 
Prerequisites (dependent on level trying to achieve):

  • 18 years of age or older
  • PC Intermediate Lake Tandem skills or equivalent
  • PC Advanced Canoe Tripping skills or equivalent
  • extensive tripping experience
  • Canoe Tripping Instructor or equivalent (for Advanced CT Instructor)

Cost: $345/person plus PC fees & GST

Paddle Canada Lake Canoe Instructor Maintenance Clinic

When: Saturday April 21 from 9:00am to 4:00pm
Where: Hermitage Pond, Edmonton
Pre-requisits: Intro, Intermediate or Advanced Instructor Certification
Cost: $75/person + GST

Paddle Canada Lake Instructor Course

When: Friday evening May 18 to Monday, May 21
Friday evening August 7 to Sunday, Aug 10
Where: Astotin Lake, Elk Island National Park
Prerequisites: 

  • 16 years of age or more
  • Intermediate Lake Tandem Skills or equivalent skills as evaluated by the Instructor Trainer
  • Must have the ability to safely manoeuvre a tandem canoe solo in a controlled manner, demonstrating basic solo manoeuvres (such as forward straight lines, sideslips, pivots, and turns) toward and away from their paddling side in a tandem canoe.

Cost: $325/person & Assoc Fees ($90 Paddle Canada/$10 Paddle Alberta) + GST (does not include Park Entry Fee

Paddle Canada Moving Water Instructor Tandem Course

When: Thursday, May 31 to Sunday, June 3
Friday, August 3 to Monday, August 6
Where: North Saskatchewan River, Rocky Mtn House
Prerequisites:

  • 18 years of age or more
  • Moving Water Intermediate Tandem and Solo Skills or with permission of instructor-trainer based on proof of prior learning of equivalent skill and knowledge. It is up to the paddler to prove to the instructor by means of evidence, demonstration or assessment that experience has led to learning. It cannot be assumed that experience has led to learning.
  • Must have the ability to safely manoeuvre a tandem canoe solo in a controlled manner, demonstrating basic solo manoeuvres (such as forward ferry, pivots, and turns) toward and away from their paddling side in a tandem canoe.        

Cost: $375/person* + GST & Assoc Fees ($90 Paddle Canada/$10 Paddle Alberta) (or $10/person for PC upgrade fee)+ GST

Intro to Moving Water (1 day course)

It’s time to take your paddling skills to the next level and head toward the exciting world of river running.  We will build on your knowledge and skill to get you feeling comfortable in moving water.  You will learn about reading the river, river safety and rescue, eddy turns, forward ferries and manoeuvring the canoe around hazards.

When: Saturday, June 9, from 9 am to 4 pm
            Saturday, July 7, from 9 am to 4 pm

Where: North Saskatchewan River, Laurier to Capilano Park, Edmonton
Prerequisites: Ability to control the canoe on flat-water (pond/lake)
   Cost: $115/person + GST

Where: Location Rocky Mtn House or Bow River, Calgary area
